How can you tell??????????
How can you tell if a dog is spayed if you don't know her history? It's about Daisey. I can't see a scar cause her hair is so long. Do I just wait to see if she comes in heat? Is there another way to find out? Thanks Kimberly

Even with the hairest of dogs you usualy find a spay scar, feel very carefully, sometimes it will only feel like a little line. Ultrasounds can be done, or you could wait, how long have you had her? how old is she? what's her history?

If you take her in the vet can tell for sure . It can be very difficult to tell.Ask your vet to look.

There isn't a for sure way. We've done surgery to spay a dog.. that is already spayed. You try and feel for a scar, but sometimes it's too hard.
When I finish vet school, I'd like to start tattooing my spays so that doesn't happen. |

I"ve only had her since Nov. 27th I don't know her history cause somebody dumped her off in middle of the road by my house. She is I think btween 3 n 5 yrs. There isn't anything on her ear. After I get Sahra Jane straightend out cause she is not feeling well then Daisey will be next to vet to start her series of vaccs.bloodwork an all that good stuff. I also don't feel anything on her either. She may have to be shaved alittle to tell. Thanks Kimberly I think I would go for the Ultrasound though if I had to.

i always thaught it was easy to tell, untill we got our rescue staffy and they said they didnt know if she was or not, she wasnt so we had her spayed, and I couldnt belive how neat the scar was, the last dog i had spayed before her was when i was 6 and it was much neater than then

It's very hard to tell on females (males are obvious lol). I think even most vets would have to do an ultrasound. You can certainly keep a close eye on them and see if they show signs of going into heat.
