Pyroderma & treatment question.

Hi All,

We just joined tonight we have an 8 year old Llahsa Apso named Jingles. We live in Orlando, Florida and every year around Fall he seems to get allergies. However this year was different. He has developed what i have found out to be pyroderma. I have been searching this wonderful forum and the experts all point to antibiotics and shampoo with benzoyl peroxide as good treatments. My question is can you recommend a good shapoo that contains the benzoyl peroxide? Thank you and may God Bless. Mike

Your vet likely sells one. When I was looking for some, it was very hard to find (special order for vet too). I talked to the dog pharmacist and they actually gave me human face soap with 5% benzol peroxide which I mixed with my favorite dog shampoo. It worked very very well. It was also very cost effective. Just remember to mix well and dilute so the shampoo is quite runny. Lather up and leave on skin for at least 2 minutes for full affect.

An excellent choice would be Oxy-Dex shampoo 1800PetMeds.com - Shampoo/Conditioners Category
