Side effects of menstrual cycle...?

My chihuahua, Phoebe, just started her first menstrual cycle today. She has thrown up twice and has had diarrhea all day. Is this happening because of her cycle or for some other reason? Have any of you ever had the same experience with your dogs? Any input you all have would be so helpful! thank you!

Well Tigger my APBT when she went in to heat for the first time had diarrhea in the back seat of my car on the way to the beach once. Maybe you should call the vet just incase.

I haven't had that happen but my dog does go off her food and also needs to pee more when she is in season.
