biopsy results

A few of you may have read my thread a few weeks ago asking for info about mammary tumors, and I just thought I'd give a little update.

My 8yo black lab/mutt mix, Ursala, whom I adopted from the pound a little while ago was at the vet to get spayed when they found a lump and removed it. I finally got the biopsy results back today-they took so long because of the holiday weekend. I was gone, so the vet's office left a message, so I don't have a lot of details yet. It was breast cancer, but it was low grade(?) and they took care of it at the time of the surgery. She has a 25% chance of it reocurring, so we have to be careful to check for it often. Although I certainly didn't want it to be cancer, it's still a relief to know where everything stands, and to know that everything is done that can be for right now.

I'm going back tuesday for her stitches to be removed, and I'll find out some more information then. I'm at the point now where I've made my peace with the situation, and I'm just going to enjoy my dog and remain watchful so that I can catch anymore lumps at the start. Hopefully we will never have to deal with it again though!

I hope you will never have to deal with it again since mammary tumour have been found at early stage. Anyhow keep watching her!

Since you have spayed her, the possibility may get reduced.

All the best! I will pray the almighty to get cure ASAP>

Your pup has my prayers for a healthy life too. If a dog has to have a tumor, then at least it was found early and removed. You will also be on the lookout from now on, so if it does reoccur, you can get it taken care of immediately.
