I started my Dane pups on Solid food when they were 4 weeks old. But I started them early because Libby had an Infection in her milk!

Libby started with a Fever and then she stared to Shiver. And her nipples were very sore looking(Rashy color). I called the vet and I had to stop the pups from drinking her milk because the vet said they could of gotten real sick or even died!

did she act like she hated feeding her pups? Do you have a pic of her nipples when they were sore looking?

My pom Peaches started to wean them at 3 weeks, go ahead and give them mushy softened puppy kibble , she will still feed them but not as often, and will stand up to nurse them. After all they are getting those sharp little teeth now.

No, Libby did not mind feeding them. But she did not like when they were rough when drinking. And No I dont have any pics of her nipples being sore looking. Sorry!

I started mine at 2-3 weeks, with high quality kibble softened with warm water, chicken broth or milk replacer. Or I start them on baby rice cereal mixed with chicken broth, both work well.

I agree that we need more pictures!!
