Dog Receipes (Prize for best one)
This contest is probably a bit different than most. I make all my dog treats myself and am in need of new receipes and thought this would be a neat way to get some. Here is what I propose:
1) Must be for treats (satin balls are great but not really treat material) 2) Dog friendly ingredients Post your receipe here and I will make them and try them out on my dogs, if other members would like to help by trying on their dogs that would be great! Just post here how well your dogs did or didn't like what you made. Contest will close on Friday, January 27. The person that provides the most liked receipe will recieve a gift(prize) from me. The gift will be a custom woodburning, I will have the winner email me the info I will need to make it. To see examples of the type of woodburning you will get you may go here http://www.tanboxers.com/custom_artwork skip all the stuff at the top and go straight to the pictures . I hope everyone enjoys this type of contest, if it goes well I may run different prize contest say once a month or so.

Tuna treats(they`ll stink up everything they touch until frozen)
16 oz canned tuna or equivalent fresh 3 eggs 2/3 cup oil(veg or olive) 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon garlic(minced fresh or powder) Preheat oven to 425. You`ll need a blender(bl.) or food processor to make these. Dump the eggs and oil into the bl. and blend it together and then add the garlic. Drain the tuna and add that until you get a stinky pink mess of fairly uniform consistensy. Adding the flour about a 1/4-1/2 cup at a time helps to get it mixed without pockets of unmixed flour. Your looking for brownie batter thickness here. Spray a jelly roll pan with pam or something kind of heavily. If you skimp on the spray it makes things a lot harder later. Pour the batter into the pan and spread it in as evenly a layer as possible. Tap the sides of the pan to try and get some air bubbles out. Bake 10 minutes. The top should be dry and have started to brown a tiny bit. Then set it on a rack to cool about 5-10 minutes. Try to loosen the bottom of the tuna slab you have now and turn it onto a cutting board. Don`t worry if some of the treat is stuck to the pan. I`ve only gotten it perfectly once and I`ve been cooking these for 2 years. Cut it into treats by making thin strips and then cutting them into smaller pieces. Cool in the fridge and then freeze them. Since these are meat-based and they don`t have any preservatives you have to be sure to keep what you aren`t going to use right away frozen. Freezing them helps with the smell too. Once they`ve frozen you can cut them into even smaller pieces if you want. Our dogs go nuts for these. If you want to get adventurous you can also make these with liver and other raw meats but the smell of the tuna is what really makes our dogs go for these.

Where do you get your liver? I can`t find it anywhere around here! The closest I got was chicken liver once and I haven`t found any since.

Am going to have to try these on Penny. She loves the freeze dried liver treats that you can buy. This will be stinky, but I have a feeling she will love them.
I will have a hard time not testing them out. I love cooked beef liver, but since it isn't good for you I have to leave it alone. ![]() Quote:
