People food for Dogs!

Okay my husband and I are really upset. Not even a month ago we tried to adopt this five month old rott pup from the local pound. Well another couple wanted him too. There was a drawing and the other couple was able to adopt him. We were bummed but what are you going to do right? Well I went onto the website petfinder.com and I found that rott on there. I thought this can't be right. Well I checked it out and sure enough it was him. The people are feeding him ice cream and cheetos! Now they want $200 to adopt him. They only paid $50 at the pound. I was very upset because my husband and I would have given him a good, secure home with a healthy diet. My husband really wanted this rott pup because when he was in Iraq we had to put his rott down because he had cancer. Now I know that you shouldn't feed a dog human food expecially junk food. Tell me your opainion on this. My husband and I are going to try to get this pup but $200 after the holidays is kind of hard at this moment. Here is a picture of this cute rott.

That is horrible that they gave it to that couple and then for him to end up like that. Did you call the pound and let them know this....that way they can make sure this couple doesn't get anymore dogs from there. I wish you luck in getting him.

I am glad you are getting the pup, he will be in a good home now. whoever had him before was a bunch of idiots and they don't deserve such a sweet dog

I would call the rescue, in the UK if that happened the rescue would visit the people and take him back. That way you could if they did take him back you could go get him from the rescue

Good thought here. I think they can also do that in the States. I'm not sure and I'm probably wrong (it may depend on the pound), but if there is liable reason that the dog isn't being taken care of properly, the pound has the right to revoke the dog from it's current home. I would figure feeding junk food to a pup or any dog is cause for revocation.

Good luck in getting this rotty pup! He sure looks like a cutie and deserves to be in a home with a proper diet and loving humans.

Thanks for your support. I did call the pound, but they said that once they are adopted out to someone they don't track them or can't take the dog back unless the people surrender him. Now we have to fill out an adoption application to try to have a chance to adopt him. This is a stressful process. I have already contacted the couple who has the pup through an e-mail since that is the only information they gave on the site. I haven't heard anything back yet.

What kind of pound does not have a contract? It is up to them to make sure the dog is in a good home and and adopted to resell for a profet.

They posted that they fed the pup cheetos and ice cream on the adoption page. Don't get me wrong some people food is good for dogs. I give my pup left over cooked meats that are seasoned. Just because he won't eat his puppy chow some times and trys to eat the cat food in the barn. Now these people who have this pup are these mean neglictful peopple. They have house broken him and gave him some training also. I just don't think that it is right of them to adopt a dog that they know they are not going to keep. We really wanted to adopt him the first time at the animal shelter. This animal shelter doesn't have any contracts that people have to sign. You adopt the dog for $40 and buy the lisence for $8-12. The pound is the same one that I adopted my German Sheppard from. That place isn't the nicest smelling, or cleanest place for any dog.
