Pups On The Way!!!!blue Pits

I have a beautiful two year old brindle pit that is pregnant with the pups of the bully blue pit blood line. THis is her first litter and i was wondering if somone could give me a pretty clear idea of what to exspect....she is on her 8th or 9th week......not sure but im getting anxious.......she was left out in a pin with the daddy for a week so im not for sure on the due date....but she is lactating how long after they start milking do they go into labor.....sorry i have no pic new cp so none on it yet.

I would say that a bitch should be or start lactating around the 54 day of the pregnancy. Good luck

I love blue pits! A good friend of mine owns Blue Moon Pits in CT, she's president of the New England Pit club.... I don't remember the official name.

When breeding dogs expect everything. Make her a nice comfy whelping box lined with plenty of newspaper, as birth is always much more messy then everyone anticipates.

Your dog is old enough to where she shouldn't have any complication. I hate to see any dog under two years of age being bred.

Pits are normally a free whelping breed, but let your vet know when her water breaks, or idealy the day before she gives birth (most dogs stop eating and act dramaticlly different, plue their temp goes up a few degrees)

It's hard to answer this question becouse it's so general, and there are SO many aspects of whelping, do you have any more specific questions>?

Dogs take 63 days and that is like 9 weeks so you are ready. Usually milk can come in a day or so before but that is not for sure. Watch for signs of trembling, that is usually a sign of pain, the start of labor. But some dogs are good at hiding it, so watch her closely. She also may act like she needs to go out but just is pressure, let her out but don't leave her alone. Do you have a place for her to have her pups? It must be warm more pups are lost due to heat loss.
My females have taken all night to get to the pushing stage, watch for signs of distress in case apup is stuck. Call your vet and let them know your dog is due and you might need them. It makes it alot easier if something goes wrong in the night. Do you have anyone that has done this before that can be there or on call for you?

i would like to say i have whelping box ready for her....this is my first litter as well...but i have read and read about it and assisted my cousin who is a pit breeder but ive never had a bitch in labor and i guess im getting anxious but i waited long and hard for my pits to get old enough to breed im building a kennel w/ my cousin and we hope to keep a good bloodline of blue pits. I think what concerns me the most is that she has been lactating for a week or better and just yesterday i saw a clear liquid comin from the vulva. and it is still there today.
