has anyone ever worked with the Connecticut Labs 4 Rescue?

I believe that is there official name. They bring up tons of dogs from down south and place them all over New England, which is wonderful except people MUST agree to take the dog site unseen, going by just pics and a description...

Our Shelter has gotten so many dogs out of this rescue in the past few months, after Hurricane Katrina. I don't know if they are laxing their adoption policies becouse of high numbers of dogs or what...

Does anyone know this rescue? Ever work with them?

I have direct experience with this group.

My experience is that my friend got a dog from them - she asked for a small dog - they gave her a big one - they didn't do any follow up at all.

I also looked at one of the organizers own puppies - she bred her bitch last year and again this year. I didn;t purchase from her - but from another breeder. Her dog was so untrained that she jumped up on my daughter and scrated her face really nastily. My husband who is over 6ft was carrying my daughter at the time.

Good hearts - but not very organized.

I work with two, Bridegeport and Valley Shore Animal Welfare League, VSAWL is no-kill bridgeport is high kill....


Yeah I think the lab rescue has it's heart in the right place... but...

i have experience with them as well. i got Faith from them and found that she was exactly as described and i had long conversations with the foster parents to talk to them about disposition, activity level, etc, and found everthing they said to be accurate.

i don't know if they've been overwhelmed with Katrina dogs or whatever recently, but i have had a good experience with them.

this is also the group i do home visits for before they place dogs in homes. there is a list of questions i need to go over with the potential adoptors and i have to observe their home, surroundings and how the family members react toward each other. as far as i've seen, there has been no change in their adoption policy or process.

once i fill out the answers i got, someone there reviews it and i've had families both approved and not approved based on what their answers were.

i do know their follow up is just not there. we've had Faith for 7 months now and i haven't had anyone else contact me about how things are going or if we even still have her.

does your shelter let them know that you're getting dogs in? at least the people i've dealt with would really want to know that to make sure they don't have any additional misplacements with the same family or dog.


p.s. - one of these days all us CT people should have a doggy play date.

We did try to contact CTlabs4rescue, and left a few messages, but with no return contacts.

It's good to know that they have had succesful rescues.

I just was very surprised how many of their dogs come into rescue, but I was just on petfinder... they must have 40 some odd dogs listed, to have that many dogs coming in and out of your lives that quickly...

I wish that those were mine - they are some top polo ponies - along with a guy with a nice bum!!!

I have a big yard - but we also have a brand new dog park near to me in Essex - its a really nice one.

We could do a meet up there........
