On January 4, we received 28 Coton de Tulears at the shelter. All of the dogs were very dirty and severely matted. Some of them were also mal- nourished. They are very UNSOCIALIZED. These dogs had been housed in very small crates for their entire lives and have had little human contact. They are used to lying in their own waste, so house- training will be particularly challenging. They are not suitable for homes with young children.
We have placed more than half of these dogs into foster care so that they might learn how to live in a human household and eventually become "family members". The fosters are working hard with the dogs, beginning to teach them housetraining and not to fear humans. The majority of these dogs are between the ages of 2 years and 6 years of age.

20 Adult dogs, 8 puppies.

You can NOT mess with the mentality of a Coton de Tulear. It'll be a loooooong road to recovery for these poor guys.

Unbelievable that this kind of thing still goes on, I wonder what the h*ll goes through people minds when they look at their dogs living in this condition, surly giving the dogs away would off been better and kinder,
I hope someone will be prosecuted for this despicable treatment of these poor innocent dogs!!

That is terrible Moo. Those poor animals....how could anyone do that to a living creature period is my question. Whoever did that should be forced to live in a small cage in isolation with no toilet. Maybe that would get it through their thick skulls that animals have feelings and emotions, too.

That is just HEINOUS! So many lives damaged, I hope that the woman responsible is punished!!!
