Dog Vitamins

Are dog multi-vitamins and brewers yeast beneficial for dogs, or are they harmful and/or unnecessary? I have been giving them to my dog for a while and then my husband said, "does he really need those?". I guess I just never thought about it.

Thoughts or knowledge?

Yes they are good but it really depends on what you are feeding them.

Brewer's yeast is a pure form of vit B and is also soluable. As for the multi vitamins I would have to know what is in them and how much to tell you for sure. If you are feeding a dry kibble you can run the risk of ODing your dog on certian vitamins with a multi Vitiman.

I feed raw so I can control more of what my dog eats in the way of vitamins and minerals. BUT with Commerical kibble it is much harder to do that because you do not know exactly how much of a certian one is in there. It is very hard to tell.

It is the Vit A and D content I am most worried about. Those to can become toxic in large doses. The body stores them unlike vit C and vit B whcih the body uses then discards whatever it doesn't use.
