I am sure this is caused by his Hypo Thyriodism or is ties to it.
Infection of the hair follcles, often with staph bacteria; symptoms usually appear on skin with less hair, such as the abdomen or short heaird dogs. Pustules form in follicles and break open to form 'bull's-eye,' 'annular,' and 'target lesions,' which have crusty centers and red or darkening on the periphery, and 'epidermal collarettes,' which appear as rings of scaly skin; itching may occur; short-coated breeds may develop small tufts of hair which are lost; breeds with long coats may have seborrhea. I am a firm believer that the Hypo Thyriodism was caused by over vaccination as a puppy; then this was a side effect. Poor Rudy has lots of bumps on his back. They are popping up quickly; it seems to be tied into when he has his meds reduced. He is still on the skinny side even after the meds were reduced and his food was upped. I am at my witts end; poor Rudy ![]() ![]() Off to the vet we go again. |

Dax has similar skin problems due to her thyroid problems. I used 5% acne wash mixed in with oatmeal shampoo. The antibacterial properties helped to.
Much cheaper than buying the canine version of shampoo from the vet (special order too) |

I am going to have to try that. What kind do you use ? And how often do you wash her ?

I use the cheapest one with 5% (max without prescription) benzyl peroxide. I mix that with shampoo. One bottle shampoo to one 250 ml of the acme wash. It is very drying so I do use a conditioner on her afterwards. You should lather it up and let it sit on the skin for 1 - 2 minutes. Rinse well.

I am going to try that and I am also going to up his dose from 6 to 6.5 twice a day and see if that helps.
Also call to the vet again see if he wants to put him on anti boitics and / or see him. |

Poor Mojo, it is awful looking and gross. They look weird and the hair pulls out in small tufts and leave a hole in spots. In other spots it look like a black head going straight through the skin on a angle.

Yep, sounds like what Mojo has.
My Vet said to bath him in Selsun Blue, it seems to be helping a bit. |
