Ollie Choking..

I'm a hero! I saved Ollie's life!

LOL.. okay.. so a little exaggerated.

This morning while eating his breakfast, Ollie was choking... trying to vomit, reverse sneezing. Kind of just going nuts! So I walked into the living room.. and saw him carrying on. Somehow, not ******** out, I opened his mouth.. looked and didn't see anything.. so I stuck my finger and found a small piece of dog food about to go down the trachea and not the esophagus.. so I pushed it in the right direction. Then he swallowed. And looked at me funny, then he wagged his tail

Now that i think about about it though, i wonder if his food is too big for him? It's a smaller kibble.. but maybe still too big? He usually only eats one or two at a time. He was probably trying to eat faster since Louise was over by him eating too.

Anyhow.. Ollie's a-okay! Good thing I've entubated enough dogs to be familiar with their anatomy and where things are.. without a light too!

Yay! You saved Ollie! Maybe if you fed the 2 separately then he would slow down and chew his food better when he eats it.

Thank God you came in at the right moment. I would have had to watch Penny die and that would have been a nightmare.

Well done good job!!!, maybe you need to go the other way and feed bigger kibble? Pearl will do that if he has small kibble her kibble now is huge and she has to chew it

That is true. Dogs may realize that they have to chew when the pieces are bigger. Whole carrot vs piece of carrot. However, gulpers way just be gulpers.

Kirby often gets into the Kleenex, and takes one, just to hide it in the back of his throat. It's gross, and it gets stuck there until I notice that he's acting weird and I have to go and pry his mouth open and pull it out.

I think this is why Ollie is so food aggressive. When Louise isn't eating next to him, he doesn't rush and takes him time. So he bullies Louise to stay AWAY! That only works for so long and then he's eating faster cause of her.
