Help Please :(
Does anybody know if a dog can get a staph infection? I am not talking about the skin type of staph.
My mother has a staph infection and on Friday she had a sinus operation and she has had cottom swabs in her nose and one of the bloody swabs fell and Penny picked it up and was chewing on it. PLEASE does anybody know if Penny can get the infection? I will call the vet tomorrow but I am so worried. Last edited by IcyMist; 02-06-2006 at 04:08 PM. |

Most staph infections in dogs I know of are skin related.
Your mother's infection is subdermal? In the sinus cavity, I'm assuming? Not sure I've ever heard/seen/learned about that before. |

Yes it is in the sinus cavity.

No idea about that, but most human diseases do not affect dogs.
What did your vet say ? |

Well thank goodness it didn't take vet long to get back in touch with me. All I can do is watch Penny and see if she starts looking lethargic, has diarrhea, throwing up, not eating, things that indicate a dog is sick in other words, then take her into Vet and they will check her out.
