Edible Chews

I'm looking for that perfect edible chew.

Hoping to find something that will be something for Kirby to do while I am in the shower, other than stare at me.

A couple weeks ago, I gave in and bought a Pizzle Stick, yeah, gross, and an edible nylabone.
-A 10" pizzle lasted all of 10 minutes. Chewed like that, it didn't even make it through 2 shower periods.
-The nylabone is lasting a little bit longer, but it's gross. I don't like it, because it looks and feels like poo, and when Kirby licks it and holds it with his hands, it leaves smudges in his fur and the ground that look like poo. He also won't chew it unless I hold it in my hand for about 5 minutes first, which is just gross, the ingredients don't impress me either.
-Whole carrots are yummy and healthy, but they don't last very long.
-I use greenies on other occasions.

What else is out there?

If you find one that lasts let me know because I have the same problem with Chopper...nothing lasts more than a few minutes with him.

Mooey, How about the baked and cured cow hoof. They last, kinda stink for the first wetting then they chew on them u do not smell it so bad. Last my Shepherds a long time. They are hard as nails. If your buying the right nylabone flavored it will last a couple years. I get the largest one about seven dollars for mine and they chew and chew and they are always in the basket. Try the hoof.

No Pom, they are NOT that hard, they do soften but they last and they love them. My dogs teeth are in excellent condition I see to that in case I would want to show them in something. I brush them and keep an eye and they get a bag of them once a month from Pet smart. Also, I give them the RAW beef soup bone, some are laying here from late summer, they chew on them but do not bite chuncks off them, just kinda rub the teeth on them for the fat and lick the marrow out of them. They last forever it seems, lol

The cow hooves that I have had splinter and I'm scared that they will get lodged in the throat so we don't give them to Buck. Maybe other kinds are prepared better but I don't trust them. We don't usually give them edible bones, they are fine chewing on the big rhino bones and pulling the fuzz off of tennis balls. Sorry I know that isn't much help!

Hi Everyone, I have the same problem with keeping Skootie entertained for more than a couple minutes. I have found that Dingo bones are the best. They are rawhide and chicken jerky wrapped together. They also come in a smoked pork one or dental bones. Skootie seems to like the regular ones the best. He just chews till he gets the jerky out. Seems to last around 1/2 hour. Just don't go for the cheaper versions, your dog might like them, but Skootie won't play with them at all compared to the real Dingo bones.

Heres what they look like:

Skooties small so I buy the 7 pack, but they do make larger sizes in singles. He also likes the chicken breasts. I just break them in half if they are too big.
