Something's just not right?

So over the past several months Louise hasn't been 100%.

She's been fiesty, her coat is dull and long and overgrown, and now she either has a UTI or a possible urinary incontinence problem.

I talked to Dr. Miller today about her, and I'm bringing her in tomorrow for a series of things. Her bordetella --so she can be groomed, a UA to see if she has a UTI, and then so Dr. Miller can look at her.. along with Dr. Beadleston (our dermatologist) and possibly Dr. Fitzgerald, since he knows his hormonal disorders.

Dr. Miller is thinking that Louise may have a hormal disease/disorder. We've already tested for thyroid.. and that wasn't it.. but now maybe it's an Addison's/Cushings issue? Or possibly she needs Estrogen? Or some other hormone supplement?

With her urinary dribbling and licking herself, that could be just the problem she is having and no hormonal issues. She's just cranky cause she doesn't feel well. Or we think she is cranky because of hormones? We're going to have the dermatologist check her out to see if her coat looks normal to him, or if he suggests something. I started Dermcaps a week and a half ago, and it seems to be making a difference.

So a possiblity of several things.. OR.. it could just be behavioral.

I've been wondering about her lately, but avoiding the answers just cause I'm in denial there might be something wrong with her, not to mention finances.

I'll let you all know what we find out tomorrow. Anyone have any hormonal disorders, such as Cushings/Addisons? I know she's not hypothyroid, cause her levels were on the LOW side.. so she would be Hyperthyroid, if anything! Which wouldn't match her signs.

Educate me if you have experience. These diseases are very vaque with their symptoms.. so it's hard to pinpoint.. which may mean another expensive blood test.

Cushings in horses produces a very woolie coat but in dogs it produces the opposite.

Jenna just had a bladder infection and they put her on Baytril It was expensive !!!! 75.00 for 14 days of pills !!!

Jenna was peeing lots and when she pee'd on our horseback rides she was peeing blood. She also had accidents at night but that has stopped. I had thought it was inconteniece at first but it was not it was a bladder infection and she chased her butt and licked like crazy as well.

You're right.. for some reason I was thinking something else about the thyroid levels. I might look at the records again.. maybe we should retest??

Louise hasn't been peeing lots.. just licking lots. Last time she had a UTI, she was stinky.. which is how I figured it out. We treated with Amoxicillin for like 4 weeks! Worked fine.. and it's probably a LOT cheaper than Baytril. Plus, I get the dispensing fee taken off since I'm filling the prescription

Good to know about the Cushings.
