alittle bit of bleeding normal?

I've been kicking back up cleaning casey's teeth because he has a tiny bit of a tarter build up and now im brushing twice a week. I use those long tooth brush that has one big bristle on the end and a tiny one on the other end ( made to brush hard to reach area). Well i have notice that every time i brush alittle bit of blood from his gums. I don't think i am brushing hard or mabey the tooth brush is to harsh on the gums?. Yes the toothbrushes are made for dogs and i am planning on taking him in for some dental work when he is two years old after i save up some money for that since i've heard teeth cleaning at the vets are pricey....

I use doggy toothpaste on a piece of gauze to clean Mara's teeth. My Vet said not to use a brush but I'm sure that's just his opinion. I've never had a problem with bleeding.

I don't like the brushes, they are big, and the end is hard to control. I've never had a bleeding problem either, because I use a finger brush.

I use a Petrodex brand brush which has the big end and a tiny end. Just like when you get blood when you brush your own teeth, it can be a sign of irritated gums from plaque and tarter that has gotten under the gumline.

Or, sometimes it can indicate you are brushing too hard. The Petrodex brush - the small end - is really soft. It would be difficult to brush too hard.

Around here, it costs about 200.00 to get your dog's teeth cleaned. March is National Dental Month, so some vets offer a discount during that month.
Worth calling around.

If it's not irritated gums.. try getting those finger brushes or the wipes to just run over the teeth. When I brush Elle's teeth.. I don't get blood.. maybe try brushing more gentle, or switch what you're using, and if it still persists, consult a vet.

My puppies teeth bled when i first started to brush her teeth and the vet said that it should go away as long as you keep brushing her teeth often so they don't get irritated. i would also look into using a softer toothbrush i use a baby toothbrush on mine and now there gums don't bleed.
