what breed?

I already have a husky/beagle mix that is medium sized, and great with all animals and children, but I want to get another puppy..this time id like it to be a small dog. We have 3 acres and lots of space for the dog to get exercise and im willing to groom the dog when ever is needed. during the school year im gone from 7-3 but im home most other times. I'd like oen that learns semi quick but im willing to spend time training it. Are their any breeds you would recommend?

I have recommended this on this forum before, but did you try petfinder.com? Put in your area, and that you want a small dog nad it will show you all of the small dogs available in shelters in you area. A lot of times these little sweet dogs belonged to older people who could no longer care for them anymore. These dogs are great companions and are oftern already trained. Any dog can learn quickly once you find a method that reaches it. Good luck in your search.

A border terrier will get on well with another dog and they are quite smart. Also consider a field spaniel, they are very nice dogs.

I like labs but I want to get a small dog. my husky/beagle is 11 and VERY calm..he doesnt get hyper very often and when he does all it takes is us saying "tanner calm down" and he does...Hes a medum sized dog, probably only 50-60lbs and when we watched my friends shi tzu he LOVED her! HE is a little bit taller than a 15" beagle, and just has the husky fur. I attached a picture of him laying down..i tried to get him to stay sitting, but i was down on the floor, and he kept laying down and doing hte army crawl to me..what a goof...
