Thumbs up I may be "apprenticing" as a Dog Groomer!

If any of you know me from the "other side" of the forum, you may know that I've recently left my position as an office and marketing manager. I wanted to have more flexibility in my schedule to ride and show my horses and I'd had an offer to help a small company launch a new position (on a consulting basis). I can make my own hours, work around my horses, etc. BUT, working less hours obviously means less money, so I'm looking for something else to supplement. SO, my roommate/horsetrainer/best friend also works as a dog groomer, and the shop she works is looking for a dog bather and also someone to "rough dogs in". They figure my skills in horse grooming (I'm the queen of clippers!) lol may come in handy.

SO, I'll find out this week if I'll be grooming this summer!

Just thought I'd share....

Any other dog groomers in here?

Sounds like you are going to be able to have your cake AND eat it too. Congratulations and good luck on the dog grooming part and new job. Just a little tip from someone who is NOT a groomer........don't braid the dogs tails.

We have several groomers and I am sure they will be posting soon.

I am very happy for you. When you have horses you want some able time to enjoy them more and this will be perfect for you. When I had mine many years ago, I loved to go on a nice long trail ride with the dogs following. So peaceful and enjoyable. Have fun.

I'm actually apprenticing as a groomer right now too. I already had a good base knowledge of grooming, but I'm learning the finer arts of scissoring and clipping.

Congratulations!

Congratulations! Sounds like the door to opportunity opened up for you. I am a groomer and can say with confidence that you will see a whole different realm of dogs and dog ownership. I still get excited when a new pup comes for the first time! Best of luck to you, the future sounds bright!

We do almost exclusively small dogs(mostly Shi Tzus/Lhasas, Schnauzers, Yorkies and Poodles) but the lady who is teaching me has a bad back, so that's why. The shop where I learned to bathe at did way more breeds than that. It really just depends on the groomer's preference, and your area.
