rear end heat

I am just curious, but how "warm" to the touch is a dogs rear supposed to
be? I am not talking about **** temperature, but, when my Pom Charlie
sits next me, and I put the palm of my hand on him, his bottom is warm/hot.
He is eating fine, but has been kinda lazy here this past week or so. Just
curious if all dogs butts are warm to the touch. I noticed my cats were as well.

Yes they can be. Rudy has a warm spot just above his shoulders on his back, it gets HOT but not all the time. I wouldn't worry unless the dog is panting and in discomfort.

I have a Pom, too, and as far as I know her bum's never felt hot. But, I agree that if there are no other symptoms I would get too concerned. Maybe mention it to the vet at your next routine visit. Is there any irritation in that area?

Hot or cold to the touch is all relative. The only way to see is to take a temperature reading.

Good add Dax - taking a temp. is always a good idea (as long as I'm not the one taking it. lol)

I am going to take his temp in a bit, just to be sure.

Buzzie has a warn spot like where the back of her legs starts(by the chest, hard to explian). Or it might be just because I am always petting her there.

since dogs are several degrees higher in temp than we are, sometimes you will feel it more near where their fur is thinner. But if there is swelling or pain then you should check with your vet.
