Is it Serious?

Hi everyone, I am new here but have been reading the forum for ages.

Firstly I would just like to say that I have an appointment at my vets in 3 hours time with my bitch, but was hoping for an insight from other experienced breeders as to what the problem may be.

My bitch had her pups 3 days ago, she had a great appetite the next morning and has been gobgling down her food, fresh meat with complete dry and the pups are thriving, everything has been going well until today. When she will not eat anything at all, even tried some warm milk and she will not touch it, she went in the garden to go to the toilet and it just looks like diarrohea with blood.

I don't expect any of you to be experts without seeing her, but does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem will be, my vets appointment seems so long away, and I am worried.

Thanks.

Is she running a temperature? Is there discharge? She may not have delivered all her pups and now has an infection.

You are doing the right thing taking her to the vet. Let us know how she's doing.

You are in our hopes & thoughts for it being nothing a little antibotics won't fix right up.

BTW - welcome to the forum.

Good luck! I hope all goes well and that it's something really minor that can be easily fixed. Keep us updated!

The first thing that popped into my head when I read this was possibly Parvo or Corona virus. I really hope she is ok.

Thumbs up She's going to be ok.

Thanks everyone,

Sorry not to reply but none of your replies made it to my e-mail for some reason, I shall have to check my settings.

She turned out to have eclampsia, which she is being treated for now, I have had to hand feed the pups until she is well enough to continue again.

I am just so glad that I caught her in time, I would have been devastated it anything had happened to her.

Fingers crossed that she will be ok now.

Oh I am so glad that you were so watchful and caught it right away. Poor sweety had it rough enough just having pups. It's a good thing she has a good parent. Sending long distances hugs and a prayer for her quick return to health and the puppies health too. Please post pictures when you can, we would love to see them.

By the way welcome to ProDog.
