Red face Dog going to be killed tomorrow!

Well I have just got back from the local pup, a bloke (Joe) who knows we have Jacks asked hubby if he wanted another one, hubby said not at the mo why, and Joe said oh well I will have to shoot it tomorrow then, so hubby told me and I went and spoke to Joe, the dog is 11 months old and a farmer bred him, Joe said he breeds too many and couldn't get rid of this one, now hes had it for so long he wants it shot, or he wants £120 for it, I asked Joe if he could pretend he had shot it and give him to me, Joe said no because the bloke would want it done in from of him (sick!!) So Joe said he would see the bloke tomorrow and say he has found a home for it, and see what the guy says, I said surly if he was going to kill him he would take less, Joe said nope all or nothing! Hubby thinks this is a ploy to get him sold, what do you think? How can I take the risk that this little chap wont be shot? I am prepared to buy him and try to re-home him, I really cant afford it at the mo, but needs must and all that. I asked Joe to take my number and call me when the chap turns up with it, but he said no I will see you in the pub, so it looks like I will be going to the pup tomorrow night to see what the bloke said, Joe said if he tells the bloke that he has a home the bloke might say he wants it shot anyway but Joe will try to work around it, I don't really like Joe he has old fashioned ways and thinks its OK to shoot a dog even his own if they are ill, or suffering, but he said he doesn't really want to shoot a healthy dog, even though Joe thinks all jacks should be drowned at birth.

So what do i do? Is this a ploy to sell him? HELP

Do you know for sure they will shoot him? What about the humane society? You aren't allowed to do that here but I live in the city suburbs and you can't discharge a gun at all.

I really dont know these people well enough to know what they will do, And I am not sure how the laws work here, farmers tend to have guns to shoot cattle so it seems to be the norm in the farming world, Its 10pm here, so too late for me to call anyone, and the Rspca isnt open on a weekend, also i have no idea where these people live, or their full names

Well, I guess you will have to decide whether they are serious or just a scam to sell the pup. Good luck and don't feel badly if you can't save the pup, there are always people who just don't care how they treay animals or humans.

Thanks but thats the hard part, i know this guy pups dogs down,l he used to be a BYB of boxers and used to kill the white ones, so i know he is capable of it, I haven't even met this dog, neither do I knows its temp (they say he is a great dog?) i assume he has never been vaccinated also, so that will set me back £40 and I know I will lose money on him, but I really feel for the pup, i also have to weigh up the risks of bringing a un-known un-vaccinated dog into my home, Jake has an op planned on Tue and I don't want to jeopardize him, but I am sure if he lived in the back porch and I was careful i could keep them separate

Get your local animal shelter involved. Tell them there's a young dog, in decent condition.. and tell them the story.

I personally wouldn't hand over any money. I bet that Joe and the other guy are planning on splitting the money and I too would get the rspca involved. I know how it would hurt if the pup is put down, but I would not trust those two.

Darn. Gosh, I wish the shelters were open- they could help a lot. I wouldn't hand any money only because if you do, he'll continue this process with more dogs.. knowing he'll make a profit off of them. I know it's really hard..

If he's dead serious.. even getting actual cops involved could work because if he's killing these animals for no apparent reason.. for real.. he could go to prison.
