Dangerous Daisey Nails clipped today!

OMG!!! I felt so bad for my lil Dangerous Daisey! I took her today to get Rabies, an more meds for her wipps. Oh, vet teck put a muzzle on her little mouth! Which is appreciated. She was so scared but had to get nails done also! She was spitting snot out of her nose, spitting out her mouth. Two techs had to hold her down while vet is clipping Daiseys nails. She was scared to death to begin with an vet said she needed to learn how to be calm????? ***???? Jeeze!
I knew my LiL Dangerouse Daisey had to go see Vet today but I didn't appreciate the way vet was cold! I have had same doc for 5 yrs! She poked Daisey 3 times!!!
I am upset about this!!!

How awful. Poor Daisey, must have been very traumatic for her. I wonder if starting to handle her feet would help her where she isn't so terrified of having nails clipped? As for the vet, I don't think much of him. I don't know what is typically done but Penny's vet would not have struggled with Penny that way. I think he would have taken his time with the clipping so it wouldn't be so scary.

Daisey lets me handle her feet just fine. I guess I should of just done it myself. I think she was just so terrified of what was going on. Well todat she is back to her own Dangerouse Daisey ankle biting self!

This is exactly why most groomers hate to have owners around during nail trims. You yourself call your dog "Dangerous" Daisy, but have a problem when the vet says a simple thing about her learning to be calmer? The vet and techs weren't being cruel or mean when they held her down- They were just doing what needed to be done in order to clip her nails. For some dogs, soothing tones just don't work, and your Daisy sounds like one of them. Don't think less of your vet because he/she did what was necessary to get the job done.

I am so so sorry your baby had to go through that
I would formally complain that at the next visit you would rather have someone else look after your baby,

If the office understands then there will be no problem in using another doc but if they have a hissie i would suggest that that vets not for your baby, your baby does not need to be tramatized for years , later on it could be a hazard for the little one because in the process the vet could hurt the little one and get aggresive with it

That is so awful! Why did they muzzle her? Maybe you could do them yourself next time? Hopefully she does not get a trauma, thought about switching vets?

Yes, I myself call her "Dangerouse Daisey" It is a nickname I gave her because she constantly puts herself in Danger with Harley. I KNEW she would be a handful, other wise I would of done her nails myself. Like I do other kids!
I also KNOW techs were doing what they had to do!!!
This dog was abanoned (sp) in the middle of road a few months ago and has been traumitized enough. Then with this on top of it!
I was upset with my vet because I have been going to her for nearly 15 yrs. And have not had a problem. I guess she didn't have her "Happy Hour Pill" as she calls it and took it out on "Dangerouse Daisey" And I felt very bad for her. Especially after she poked her 3 times in thigh to give rabie shot!!!
I am always assisting Vet and Techs with my dogs. ALWAYS! This was not a good experience for Daisey, considering she has grown to trust a human. and I felt like I let her down at that time! Thank you for your post! Kimberly

Thanks Carrie, they muzzled her just for safety for all. Though she is just alittle 25 pound girl they have to protect themselves. I am fully for muzzles during a strange situation for all involved. Doesn't matter how big or how small. Since myself nor my vet didn't have any history it's better to be safe than sorry! This is smallest puppy I have so I was not all familiar with lil toes. Now she had her first cut I will continue to mess with her toes to where she will trust me. And My Mother will hold her while I am being the "meanie". It will be easier on all of us! Thanks Bunches! Kimberly LOL
