Clipping hair around and under feet

I have a question about the hair inbetween the pads of my puppy's feet. Should I clip the hair even with the pads or shorter. I heard first to cut it a bit shorter than the pads then I went to a collie page which said clip it even with the pads so it does not cause tangles? Any advice?

Do exactly what you research, cut accordingly with the pads. I gave my daughter a long coat as she wanted her, she cuts hers even with the pad and it looks neat and nice, easier for her to clean the dirt and mud off to come back inside. Use small sizzors also. Watch u do not nip the pads they take a long time to heal honey. Good luck and take your time.

what we do for a normal dog we just take it across the pads but with breeds like the cocker spaneil we do some times clipper it out with a 10 blade as they go grow so thick around the feet and also with the larger dogs like the newfoundlands and what have u we reallly skim out the feet so when they walk on the snow it dosnt get compacted and hurt them but i guess it is personal prefrace

I usually get as much hair out of there as I can, and splay the pad as I'm doing it, and between the toes too. I have a 2 Shelties and they find it very painful when ice build up between the toes. To be truthful, if you aren't showing, then cut however is best for you and your dogs. I've chopped off my guy's pants, and belly hair just leaving the long hair along the flank so they look right. Don't worry too much, its just hair!

I just don't have the guts for this and am so fearful of cutting the pads. I don't know how they hold a fairly good size clipper, but still don't cut the pads. I just picture a bloodbath if I tried.

Off topic - I'm listening to music while I'm posting. I find I keep typing the music lyrics instead of discussing the topic. So, excuse me if a few non-sensical words are in my posts!!

okay thanks!! Sorry but the time differences here generally dont allow me to respond until the next day! I still dont know yet what to do. I will have to wait to see. Living in finland we have snow at least 6 months out of the year so it will depend on him. As of now I am just cutting it even with the pads. If I notice ice build up I will start making it shorter... But thank you guys so very much for all the advice!! As usual you guys are very helpful!!!!
