lump...:S

I was petting my dog while watching tv and I noticed a lump under his skin on his shoulder. It scared me and Im wondering if its normal. Im getting mis revolution again this month, so I will get that checked out at the same time. I would like to know though, would the vet charge anything to just look at it and tell me if it is normal or not? Cuz Im going in anyway to get the flea and worm stuff, so it shouldnt be any trouble to check right?

I would think one office visit charge would cover it all. Most lumps are lipoma's (benign fatty tumors) and my vet does a needle aspiration and looks at the cells under a microscope. This helps determine if they are lipoma's because the needle aspirate sample looks very greasy.

It's good that you're having it looked at.

Well yea it does feel like it sould be fatty tissue. Could it possible just be swollen up from his rabies needle? He had 2 needles in the same place one after the other, one for rabies, the other for some other stuff. That was 2 weeks ago tomorrow.

Definately! It's very common for there to be a lump at the site of a rabies shot. My Poodles have had that happen. You might want to wait a couple of weeks and see if they go away. Or, ease your mind and call your vet to see what they think.
