Swollen Eyes

I have a chocolate lab-doberman mix dog shes just over a year old now. Shes got swollen eyes. They look like they are popping out of her head, she looks like a little alien. She had this problem last fall and the vet gave us eye drops. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows what it is. We are wondering if she jsut has allergies or if its something else. The vet didnt seem to concerned in the fall when we brought her in. She just looks soo goofy its sad!

I have had this problem and just used plan Visine Drops and it healed them. Keep them clean, hold cold ice wash clothes on them also to get the swelling down about ten minutes a time as often as u find time more the merrier. She will be fine, they get dirt in their eyes just as we do and it gets them stirred up, try this as simple solution rather than a vet call to drain your wallet honey

thanks so much. I will give that a try if i can get her to sit still lol. dirt in her eyes would make so much sense! we live on a farm and she was out playing with a new friend the other day.

The only medical thing I can think of might be over active thyroid gland.

eye problems

i would guess it is allergy related or conjuntivitis but she could have an ulcer on her eyes i would have vet check i don't mess around when it comes to the eyes last year i had cat that had tumor growing in her eye i doubt that is your problem b/c this was 16 yr old cat but i would not let it go on to long

I would not use visine in my dogs ever! Visine (or similar products) are actually very bad for eyes if used too often (more than 2x's per week). They constrict the blood vessels in the eye which reduces blood flow, which reduces oxygen intake. I have seen people who have a lot of eye problems from using these products too often.

I would get to a vet and see what they think. if you don't like what you are hearing from your vet, get a second opinion.
