Do you take your dog to a holistic vet?

I have several questions on this topic, but I'll just start by sticking my toe in the water. I've been reading alot in the Whole Dog Journal and came across an article on preventing cancer in dogs by incorporating holisitc measures. It was fascinating!

Anyway, do any of you take your dog to a holistic vet? If so, what's your opinion?

I think I would as long as they also believed in traditional vet medicine for disease and used holistic as a support.

The same way I would go to a medical doctor who also prescribed holistic foods, and exercise instead of meds.

hi

I feed Solid Gold Holistique Blendz and she is also on the Kidney Cleansing Diet of chichen and rice. I give one in the morn and one at night. I like
my vets here too much to change and I believe in the way they treat but
it is something to think about and I too will do more reading about it.

Well here goes another toe. I had a grooming client that took there ShihTzu mix to one for her back. The dog had early on arthritis of the spine. The holistic vet did acupuncture, massage therapy and some other stuff I can't remember. It didn't cure the dog but there was improvmentin mobility and her dipostion. So for whatever it's worth, I saw the dog every 2 months and did notice an improvement.

I now take Lilly to a veterinary clinic which specialises in a holistic approach.

We have only been a couple of times (they are a 3 1/2 - 4 hour drive from here, so I also have another vet clinic for emergencies or minor problems and can't go there all the time) but so far I have found them to be excellent.

The vets there believe in the traditional medicine as well as the holistic methods so it is very good. They have helped a lot with Lilly's nutritional needs and offer a lot of alternative options for numerous things, they also have extensive knowledge when it comes to vaccinating pets etc.

I'm very happy with it.
