Well were gonna Spay both Dixie and Stormie...pictured below.
First off when you Spay a female they cant get pregnant and they cant go into Heat therefore... when that 'time comes' they dont bleed none, right? Does the vet keep a female over night? Do they use the stitches, now a days, that dissolve? How many days should you keep the female 'off her feet' before she will be able to play? How long does the procedure last? What are they actually doing in there? Can anything go wrong? Do they get a cone? ( I hate cones PITA)

Once you spay a female there will be no hormonal changes anymore. There will be no swelling, bleeding, nipple enlargment, etc.
The vets here typically keep the females over night. This is major surgery and they do want to keep an eye on them. It is up to your vet - some come home same day. They should be walked on a leash for at least 10 days to 2 weeks depending on the type of surgery. Laser surgery recovery time is about 1/3 normal. The incision area needs to be kept clean & dry. NO swimming, etc. My vet uses dissolving stitches but even witht that you can have some that don't dissolve all the way can need to pulled out. |

when that 'time comes' they dont bleed none, right? Nope, no bleeding. Does the vet keep a female over night? Depends on the vet. Some do, some don't. Mine did. Do they use the stitches, now a days, that dissolve? Again, it depends. Dissolvable stitches are becoming more common, but some vets prefer to use the others. How many days should you keep the female 'off her feet' before she will be able to play? Around ten days, sometimes longer. How long does the procedure last? Proceedure doesn't take too long, but they will at least have her a good part of the day to monitor the effects of anasthesia. What are they actually doing in there? Removing the uterus and ovaries. Can anything go wrong? I know there can be complications, although I've never had any happen, so I'm not knowledgeable on the subject. Do they get a cone? ( I hate cones PITA) I like to leave cones on my spayed females to keep licking and chewing to a minimum.

First off when you Spay a female they cant get pregnant and they cant go into Heat therefore... when that 'time comes' they dont bleed none, right? that's right. Does the vet keep a female over night? Most do with females. Do they use the stitches, now a days, that dissolve? Depends on the type used. Ask your vet to use dissolving ones. How many days should you keep the female 'off her feet' before she will be able to play? Generally once the stiches are out, she will be back to normal. However, she can play a little bit after a couple days. No rough housing for a while. How long does the procedure last? Meaning.... What are they actually doing in there? They take out the uterous, ovaries and other female reproduction parts, lol. Can anything go wrong? yes, but it's a very common procedure and the risks are worth it. The dog will be healthier and happier. (just think how happy you would be without your "heat") Do they get a cone? ( I hate cones PITA) only if they are licking,
