I know that my mom had one in her back. She tried to treat it at home, but it was really bad and she ended up having to have surgery But I can ask her if there was anything that helped before the surgery

A chiropractor vet would be helpful. This is becoming a very popular added displine for many vets. Here is a site to help you find one in your area.

They believe in adjusting, strengthing and support vs surgery.

Dax My Sahra Jane fell down the steps about a month an 1/2 ago. Which created a crushed disc in her back. Which was also leaning on her spinal cord! I aotomatically thought surgery. The specialist said not yet! That this king of injury usually does heal on it's own after time.
She is on strict bed rest for 2 months. She is staying with my mother where it is quiete. She can not go on her lenghthly walks. She can only go right out back and do her buisness. She can't wear a collor. Because of weight. Can not go upstairs, get in car alone. On furniture etc. It's been hard but she is comming along good! She is on Rimadyl 100mg for pain.
She has her next check up at end of this month where the will do another mri.I am feeling confident about her. That she is being heeled.
I hope our experience has helped you out some! Kimberly

I new a dog with a slipped disk. He had jumped off the bed and became paralized he also couldn't control his bathroom needs. I had to go to her house a couple times a day to catherdrize him so he could pee. The owner had 2 sx done and acupuncture done, along with taking him swimming everyday in a neighbors pool. The last time I saw him, he was able to walk but like a drunken salior. They ended up selling their house to get a house with a pool so she could continue his daily swims and had ramps installed so it would be easier for him to get around. Lol her dogs weren't to spoiled.
