Bump below butt...

My Moms shepard/begal mix has a large bump about 2 or 3 inches below her anus... its about as big as a golf ball cut in half. She crys when ever she touches it... I looked up **** glands, becuase I have heard a fue thing about them but Im still unsure if thats what it is or not... My mom says shes going to take her to the Vet but she hasnt yet and I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas whats wrong wiht her.

My dog had an abcessed **** gland [leading to rupture] which looked like a lump below his anus, but it does not sound like what you are describing. The lump was soft, and was not painful to the dog, unlike the ensuing surgery. And located right beside his anus.

This is what Kirby's looked like [see post #6]:

It sounds more like a tumor.
When did the lump develop?
Is it hard or soft?
How old is the dog?

Sounds like an abcess to me. Not necessarily a nal gland. Could be a boil or cyst that has become infected. I worry about bumps that are painful.
