Exclamation found small sick puppy need help!!!

I went outside to take roxy for her last potty break around 10pm and she kept pulling toward the garage. i went to investigate and i found a small little white and brown puppy. it looked sick so i brought it in and it took a poop and it was filled with these really long(about6") thin worms. can humans get these worms. my 5 y/o nephew is spending the night and he was playing with the puppy b-4 i noticed it had worms. what should i do?does a vet need to treat these worms or can they be treated with an over the counter med?

hmm sounds like tap worm.Your vet should be able to give you something to get rid of the wormies not expensive, and I think tap worms are contagious if ingested... not sure

the puppy licked my nephew on the face. i made him wash his hand and face and told him not to play with the pup anymore. so he should be fine?if i give a puppy this small with this amount of wroms is there a risk of her dying? she is under 6 weeks.

Tapeworms come out in about 1/4 inch segments, sounds like a bad case of whipworm, You could get puppy wormer a the pet shop or feed store tommorow then seek Vet advise monday. I would keep the pup isolated from other pets until seen by a Vet. Worms can be transmitted thru ingestion, so thuruogh hand washing would be in order.

They sound like round worms and most wormers go by weight. Round worms grow in the digestive system and fill up the pup and cause them to feel full and don't eat properly. Easy to get rid of but I would still take the pup to vet you don't know what else she may have.

It will be okay, did it eat and drink? I worm my pups at about 3 weeks and again at 6 and 8 weeks. Don't worry about your child, worms are disgusting but roundworms aren't life threatening and most people don't get them. You cleaned his hands and isolated the pup. My kids never caught anything from our dogs or the strays we found and fostered, simple hygiene.
