Sick Faithey Update

Alright, I am going to give an overview here...

Last Friday - Throughout the day I noticed an increase in the amount that Faithey was urinating. She was squatting differently, almost like she was in pain. Didn't seem to want to eat. I waited overnight to see what happened.

Sat. - I awoke to three different puddles. Cleaned them, called the vet and had her in by 3:00. The vet wasn't my usual vet, but the weekend vet. She took a urine sample, said there was some blood and her levels her high. It lead her to believe it was a UTI. Put her on antibiotics three times a day and told me to watch and see how she is. Told not to give acid reducer, instead INCREASE the acid by giving Vitamin C. (Apparantly, my pups stomach problems mean nothing to the weekend vet )

Sun thru Friday - Really had to coax Faithey to eat. Still some urination throughout the house at night. Throwing up a lot of acid since I was not supposed to give her an acid reducer. I stopped the Vitamin C because she was throwing up between every meal. That helped and she was then only throwing up at night. She wasn't feeling very active or playful, so we didn't do much. Overall sad, resting, not feeling good puppy.

Sat - Even as we get closer to the end of her meds, she still is having accidents at night. Starting to feel better. She's playing with the other dogs. Eats a full meal.

Sun - Eats a can of food that she hasn't had in months. Eats it readily, but throws up about a half hour later. I boiled some chicken and rice and she devoured it. Skipped a dose of meds to hopefully calm her tummy long enough to get something in it. Eating chicken and rice throughout the day seemed to boost her energy. Got groomed and a bath.

Mon - Urinated during the night AGAIN! Over a week after being on the meds. Ate chicken and rice again. Sitting right next to me now, looking bored. Calling vets in about an hour when they officially open.

Faithey

My thoughts are with you as Fireking my German Shepherd dog who will only be 9 in October has just been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney disease.
Unfortunately the disease is there as much as 2 years before and the symptoms only occur when it is too late to do anything,
In the past when he has been ill he has always recovered with chicken and rice. best thing for him
Good luck and hope vet has some good news for you.

Thank you. Faithey is two and a half right now. She normally is a go-go-go type of doggie, but she is not right now. Poor girl.

Good Luck with Fireking, too.
