    In loving memory of Whiskey

On this day, I lost my love, I lost my life, my heart forever, yours despite,

Till one day we meet again.

In the fields and pastures grow the grass where we will forever roam.

Until that day we meet again, rest your soul, your minds at peace,

My hopes are high my pain is deep.

Never forgotten, your face so sweet,

My pain you did help relieve,

    Special sense, knowing looks,

    Hug of gold, kisses rich,

Forever in my mind you grow.

    In loving memory of Whiskey,

    That was beautiful.

I found this on the internet a while back, and hope you don't mind if I post it on this thread. This is for you and Whiskey....may he be happy forever

I stood by your bed last night
I came to have a peep
I could see that you were crying
you found it hard to sleep

    I whined to you softly
as you brushed away a tear
    It's " me" I haven't left you
    I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here

I was close to you a breakfast
I watched you pour your tea
You were thinking of the many times
your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today
    your arms were getting sore
I longed to take your parcels
I wish I could do more

I was with you at my grave today
you tend to it with such care
    I want to reassure you
that I am not lying there

I walked with you towards the house
as you fumbled for the key
I gently put my paw on you
I smiled and said "its me"

    You looked so very tired
    you sank into a chair
I tried so hard to let you know
    that I was standing there

    Its possible for me
    to be so near everyday
to say to you with certainty
    " I never went away"

    You sat there very quietly
    then smiled like you knew
in the stillness of the evening
I was very close to you

    The day is over
    smile and you yawning
    and say goodnight, god bless
I'll see you in the morning

And when the time is right for you
    to cross the brief divide
I'll rush across to meet you
and we'll stand side by side

I have so many things to show you
there is so much for you to see
Be patient, live your journey out
then come home to be with me

Thankyou, that was very soothing, although it brought tears to my eyes.
Can youi believe I only got three hours sleep and felt like a fool when I walked to the door and grabbed his leash.
I am cleaning up his things tonight, hoping it will help, me realize his routine is gone with him.
I bought a wooden box, I plan to line with fleece, and keep in it the paw print from the vet, his collar, certificates, favorite squeeky ball and unstuffed monkey, pictures and these peoms, so he will be there when I need him.

I'm not usually one to write poems, but this just came to me and I had to write it out and share it with you. I hope you like it.

    Letter from Whiskey

Thank you, Mom, for the life you gave me
You loved me every day of my life
You let me know that I wasnít bad.

Thank for the time you took with me
Trying so hard to save my life
I want you to know that you did.

I know I left you sooner than you wished
But Iím happy know and less confused
I know exactly what Iím supposed to do.

In life, not everything made sense
    Sometimes I became nervous and
I wasnít sure what to do.

I acted out of instinct doing what seemed right
I couldnít always remember what you wanted
Iím sorry for any pain I caused, I didnít mean too.

But, oh, if only you could see me now
I would make you so proud
Iím told Iím one of the best dogs to enter here.

I love to watch you now, I think of our life together
It was full and seemed as long as a hundred years.
I canít wait for you to come and join me here.

Until you do, just keep this in mind,
Everything you did for me allowed me to be here
And live happily knowing one day we will reunite.

Thankyou, although he is gone I am still very proud that people were so impressed by his level of obedience, even the behavior spec/vet could not believethe control and obedience he hadwith me despite his issues.

In my complete honesty, I can tell you that I am keen to keeping my cool, I don't usually let stress or pain knock me off, but this has definitely found a soft spot in my frame.

I had come across this poem in the past...

The time has come for the tears to end
for you to be happy and cheerful again.
I am safe in God's home above
cradled in His arms; covered with His love.

We run and play by the Bridge all day
waiting for the day when you'll be here to stay.
You've been crying so much I feel bad
I want you to be happy and not so sad.

Remember the time when I was so small
I couldn't even pickup the rubber ball.
I fought that ball from morning to night
it made you laugh, I was quite a sight.

Remember teaching me sit and stay
we had such fun since I didn't really obey.
but you kept at it with test after test
so when I entered my first show I was the best.

Remember the great times we had in the past
like when we walked to the park we had a blast.
We'd run and play all through the park
until the sun went down and it got dark.

Remember the times we went for a ride
I was so excited I'd jump right inside.
Away we went to who knows where
but you and I we didn't really care.

I'll always love you, you're my best friend
I'll be right with you even to the end.
Always remember the great times we had
and there will be no reason to ever be sad.
