could casey have bladder infection too?

Casey is generally healthy so i don't want to take him to the vet if there's nothing and end up paying big bills too especially if it's something that can be fixed at home, but i am curious if he has bladder infection too?. He drinks alot of water almost half way down in his bowl, could it be that he is crated all night and could just be thirsty?, he drinks water when i let him out of his crate in the mornings. Then the rest of the day ( he's free roaming around) he won't drink his water until later like after a hard play or a nice long walk then he drinks his water. I think he drinks more than he eats, his food bowl is always down, but he seems to only eat when he's hungry so i have no worries about him being glued to his bowl and eating all of his food. He might wander off and nibble on his kibbles, but he doesn't really eat until dinner time and that's when he starts gobbling up all of his kibbles.....seems like he chooses when to eat and how much he will eat LOL, but as far as the water thing i want to make sure it's normal and not something to be worried about...

So Basically he drinks what you believe to be WAY to much? Correct?

hmmm I dont know what to say.... When we first Got Sidnie the breeder told us she would drink to her death. Boy he wasnt joking. We had a big water trough for her and she just kept lapping it up, we thought she would explode. So we covered it up and she uncovered it and just kept drinking and drinking and drinking. She then walked around and threw up her kibble.

I was worried and thought this is how she was but she stopped!
How big is his water bowl? Maybe you should get a big one. Sid lived in an apartment before she lived with us and more than likely she always didnt get anough water especially with living with other dogs. Our cat will freak out if his food bowl is low maybe Casey is afraid his water will vanish?

Just an idea.

Does Casey have water in his crate? You could try giving him one of these in his crate: . I have one for Denali, she learned to drink from it really quickly.

Also, one day you should 'measure' how much water he drinks. Fill up a container where you KNOW how much water he gets (like a 32 oz container) and count how many times you fill up his water dish from empty to full. You may be surprised!!! (I had to do this because I thought Denali drank too much. Turns out she drinks what she should.)

Drinking lots of water can be signs of other problems as well. I know when my cat had kidney stones, he would drink an exessive amount of water, and also when he ended up having kidney failure in the end, he was always drinking. I'm not saying that Casey has kidney problems, just giving a point it could be something else.

If your FREE FEEDING this could cause a bout of eat then drink alot to cause the food to swell inside of him.? I would feed twice a day as I do morning and late afternoon, free choice of buckets of water, but I also wet my dry kibble with hot water, stir ten seconds to eliminate gases and have no problem year round with any drinking problems. I have a foot deep wade pool plus a decorative pond they do not touch, so they could drink too much, but being I wet the food, what they do not eat in twenty minutes I pick up and dispose of. Try this honey
