Ollie Vomits almost Everday

I'm starting to wonder if this dog has Acid Reflux when he's excited or something?

Everyday when I return home Ollie rushes to the water dish, gulps gulps, and then runs around and then vomits the water back up.

The other day it happened on my lap.

No food, no bile, just slobbery water.

At first I just discredited it to him drinking too fast and then running around, but now I wonder with all the burps and water vomits if he's got something wrong with him?

You could try slowing his drinking down with a water bottle (I just recommended them for Shelteez crate too) . The other thing is - do you have his water elevated? If yes, try putting the water on the floor, if no, try elevating it. I know there are MANY debates on raised water/food bowls vs unraised water/food bowls. Perhaps Ollie is just sucking down too much air when drinking.

I would still check with your vet though.

No I have Acid Reflex bad and I do not drink alot like I am to be doing now also.
Give the dog a tbsp of canned or purree pumpkin without any spices. Give at bedtime a cup of plain yugurt, see if this stops this. Also, a tbsp of honey once a week is a great tonic and cleaner of dogs, I give it to mine and they are healthy. Just give this a try and let me know please.

Thanks for the suggestion Dignity.. problem is.. it's on the ground, but any higher and he can't reach it!! He's too little.

He does occasionally drink toilet water (he prefers it actually) and that is elevated.. but it does the same thing.

I'm going to mention it at work on Wednesday night and see what our doc thinks.

ShepLovr- isn't the pumpkin for upset stomach? it's not like he's sick, he just has this reflux problem

They do make dishes that are slightly elevated - like this one:
or here is one that is adjustable:

You could always even try a more shallow bowl and just put a piece or two of cut plywood underneath (as long as the bowl doesn't slide around).

I would guess it would be a reflux problem or just drinking too fast though.

I would **** up my water too if I gulped it down then started running around.

It's likely that he is just gulping too fast w/ air, and getting too excited, not a reflux problem. I've known a few dogs like this. A more shallow bowl might be a good idea.

Bogey's a water "gulper". When he does this, sometimes he throws up.
