Anyones dog pull a muscle often?

Everytime I turn around my dog is limping. She never did this until we moved to a property with acreage.

She will see a squirrel or a bunny and take off helter skelter down the driveway and always come back limping. The first time was her right front leg. I took her to the vet and he said she pulled a muscle. I gave her meds and she healed slowly.

Now she did it again. This time it's her back leg and she can't even put pressure on it. I grab it and move it all over and she does not make a sound. I have an appoitment on Thursday again.

I now keep them in the kennel (because 1 dog ate my car)but the kennel is a good size. It's about 40X40 and they do get out a couple of times a day while supervised.

But has anyone else ever had problems like this?

You didn't mention the breed or the age, both of which can be factors.

I have a Poodle that limps from time to time because of what's called luxating patella - when the knee caps slip out of place. He has a mild case of it and it seems to get aggravated and then is fine.

But there are lots of things that can cause a dog to limp. Sometimes it can be something as simple as something stuck in its paw - like a briar or its nails are too long. It could be arthritis, hip dysplasia, aggravation of an old injury or a host of other things.

One you eliminate the simple, possible culprits, a vet visit is warranted.

There's a lot of expertise on the forum. Others will chime in.

Thanks Debbie.

She is a rhodesian Ridgeback/pit mix. She is coing up on 5 years old. Sometimes I think she fakes for attention.

My 6 yr old lhasa apso x is under vet treatment at the moment for intermittent limping - tomorrow she is going for an xray to determine what the cause is. The vet is leaning towards it being arthritis hence the xray it will hopefully prove right - if not god knows what it might be or what it might show up. I would definately get your vet to look into this a bit more - limping can be the start of anything!!
