need help fast!

my small pom with one kidney got into my bag and ate the
treat I had gotten for my wife. It was a starbucks black and white
cookie. she ate the chocolate part, ugh. does anyone know what
kind of chocolate that is? she weighs 5lbs. I called the vet, they
want me to find out what kind of chocolate it is, and how much is on
the cookie, they can decide a treatment, or tell me if I need to call poison
control. thanks!

Call Starbucks... semisweet or dark chocolate is the worst kind. Do you know how long ago? Did the vet tell you to induce vomiting?

just got off the phne with poison control. they said not to induce
vomitting given her health history, and that the amount she ate
put her right on the border for concern. they said to watch for
pancreatitius, and signs of hyperactivity

I called starbucks

based on the ingredients, this appears to be an icing recipe. it has
sugar, corn syrup, water, cocoa and some choco liquor. the weight of
the WHOLE cookie is about 4oz. from what the woman at starbucks said,
this cookie does not have pure milk, or dark chocolate. It has been neary two hours and so far, no signs of vomiting or diarrhea. I have called the vet back to make sure I dont need to bring her in for anything.

Thanks for the update. I think things would be fine. What a scare though. Poms are very sneaky that's for sure.

morning update

made through the night ok. abbey woke up a couple times to pee, pooped this morning, finally. has drank quite a bit of water, but hasn't seemed to hungry, possibly due to the fact the vet had me give her more food last night.
So far, she seems very active, alert and about normal. She is doing some heavy panting, with the tongue hanging out a mile a minute. No vomitting at all. We are going to keep an eye on her today and if she throws up at all, take her to our vet.

If you've gone 24 hours with no symptoms, she is likely fine. My 17 pounder has eaten fifteen 12-gram milk chocolate candy bars at once. And half a box of girl guide solid mint milk-chocolates on another occasion. Still healthy as the bug that he is.

But being lucky is a good thing too.
