Can anybody help?

My husband and I have decided on getting another dog. We want another Pit Bull really bad. We recently moved to the town where my hearing impaired children's school is. About a month ago two guys down the street got into a fight and started shooting at each other. We had a bullet come in through our front window. The cop on the scene told us about the houses in the neighborhood that they have had problems with and we are pretty much in the middle of all of it! We were shocked because we were told that this is a nice neighborhood. There are no run down houses and it is fairly quiet. If we wouldn't have bought this house we would move. My husband works a lot and I am a stay at home mom with my two little girls and I want a Pit Bull in the house just to feel safer. I will spoil him/her to death and will be an inside dog. I have looked in shelters and online and can't find one. If anybody knows of one in Iowa PLEASE help us! Well, I have found a few but they don't like other dogs, or cats, or kids. I think we would do better if we got a puppy.

Just wanted to add that we have 2 Dachshunds and a Rat Terrier right now. We had a Pit Bull several years ago and he was the best dog we ever had. I miss having one around.

Wow, I've been to Iowa before and I'm surprised. But I guess there's violence no matter where you go. I'm sorry about your situation.

You do not that Pitbulls are not guard dogs ? I may have a female up for adoption pretty soon but I live in Texas.

We rescued a little Boxer mix from Missouri that was about to be put to sleep. I know she isn't a Pit, but she needed help fast.
