Vomitting

Hi I'm new. I have a 6 month old male weimaraner named Obi-Wan Kenobi(yes we are big star wars fans!) He doesn't vomit on a regular basis and I believe today's 3 instances were probably something he ate. When we go for walks he frequently will pick up the dead dried up snakes and eat them before I can get them out of his mouth. Not only that but he doesn't eat breakfast anymore, if we're not there. He seems to only want to eat if we're there. Might be eating pears that are falling off the neighbours tree which has caused a little diarrhea. Anyone having similar problems, what have you done if so?

Oh Sweetie give him a tbsp of canned pumpkin unspiced to stop this digestion if not serious. See if this helps or even our pepto we take works. If not better in A day or so then summon your vet for advice, I am not a vet just some things that work for me to save vet callls. Also a tbsp of honey weekly is great for dogs a good cleanser and heart tonic. Also read on my site about apple cider vinegar on Pats notes. I post regular things to help with your pets, I share my thoughts I am not selfish and keep to myself, I want to save every pet I can do. God Bless.

It depends. If he is up to date on shots and you are sure it isnt parvo or something like that I would just try to get him to stop eating **** off the grown (easier said then done! My pup keeps trying to eat the bloody pine tree!) Maybe it is time to go only to one meal a day instead of two or three? You can start trying that at 6 months although it is recommended (I believe) to wait until they are 7 or 8 months for that.

Thanks, He's only vomitted a couple of times in his 6 months. All shots are up to date. It looked mostly like undigested food. No blood in vomit or diarrhea. He's still energetic. I keep watching. Thanks for the replies!

the "leave it" command is going to be your salvation! once you teach that you can have your dog leave anything you want alone.

teaching leave it:
1. put your dog in sit

2. get your dogs favorite treat in your hand and ball it into a fist

3. hold your fist up to the dogs face and do not give him the treat when he starts sniffing your hand

4. wait for your dog to ignore the treat, then praise and give him the treat with a "take it" command

5. repeat steps 2-4 until your dog does not sniff your fist at all, then add the "leave it" command and make it more tempting with each time. (ie: open your palm so that the treat is in plain site, place the treat at the foot of the dog)

in no time you should have a dog that will leave ANYTHING alone if instructed to do so.

ps: do not give into the dark side of the force! (I love star wars too)

You don't mention what kind of food you are feeding. could be his food isn't agreeing with him, since you mention it looks like undigested food. But the leave it command is great whether your dog is sick or not. Another way to teach it is to cut small pieces of weiners and put them here and there, put him on leash and when he reaches for it yousay leave it and pull him in. walk around to tempt him stying in reach of it. when he walks with you and ignores it tell him take it and praise. You dan graduate to outside on leash to make sure you don't miss him. If the appetite doesn't return, try more exercise, if it doesn't help I would give different food. if that fails have him checked. Could also just be teething. About the pumpkin, we learned at school that it stopped diarhea so you don't want to constipate him if he has snake parts that have to come out. he's a big dog to be switching to one meal a day, maybe take him off puppy food, could be too rich for him.
