Gums

Hi Im new here and I need help wih my dog(obviously ). The thing is hes about 8 years old and I recently looked at his gums and theres a large bump covering about half of his tooth(see picture[I couldnt get a decent picture, apparrently hes camera-shy{parden my crude drawing skills}]). Its seemed rely sore and I was just wondering if this was a natural part of a sog getting old or if i should get this checked out .

welcome to the forum, and sorry we had to meet like this.

it could be a ton of different things. your dog could have an absess (sp?) or it could be that a piece of food is caught in the gumline and needs to be cleaned out.

do you brush your dogs teeth? is he still eating properly? if it didn't start to go away in the next few days or so, I would get him to the vet. you dont' want it to get so bad that he stops eating.

Hi and welcome!!!
If his breath is bad it could be that the area is infected. That would mean a trip to the vet.

If his breath stinks sometimes it means that one of his internal organs are going bad or may be infected. Not to scare you or anything but i'd keep an eye on that and best bet is to check with your vet.

if his mouth is stinky, than he probably has an infection and that means a trip to the vet. the infection could be what is making his mouth stanky.

good luck
