Underweight Pup!

Ok, I need some help, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I just got a puppy today. She is a 4 month old Golden Retriever pup. Yeah free pup in the paper and I got her.

I went and picked her out and she's now home with me. She is underweight though. Her ribs slightly show, her back bone can be easly felt, and her hip bones stick out.

I'm going to get some puppy food for her, I cant afford the really expensive stuff so we are going to Walmart.

Can she be wormed at this age? I'm thinking maybe she's wormy....

What all can I do to get her weight back up. How much does a golden retriever pup usually way at 4 mos?

thanks in advance.

right on the nose!

i would worm her first (she is not too young) and then get a good quality puppy food. I like chicken soup for the puppy lover's soul dog food. my dog did great on it and there is no corn or byproducts in it.
it is not too expensive and you don't have to feed as much food as a walmart brand would be so it will last longer. the cheap foods have fillers in them so the dog has to eat more to get full/nutrients so you end up spending about the same amount of money on food either way, one is just much better for your dog.

ps: when do we get to see puppy pics? we are suckers for puppies.

just make sure that it get all diff types of worms like hookworm, whipworm, and roundworm. I would also watch her stools to see if there are any worms coming out. if you do see worms in her stool, MOST, but not all, wormers instruct you to dworm again in 7 days.

good luck and can't wait to see the little fluffball!

WalMart carries Purina One, I would buy that over the Ol Roy brand.
