Zorros first bath!!! oh boy!

Well after yesterdays romp with Aida he needed a bath! I was very stupid about all this. My daughter got stomach flu last night so I was SCRUBBING my house! Got the living room all done and Zorro comes running through with muddy feet. So okay he needs a bath how so we go to take our first bath. (HE DID GREAT!!! He was wagging his tail and playing with the water!) So downstairs we come but since my daughter is sick I want to keep an eye on her so I start blowing drying him in the living room. (HE DID GREAT! He actually fell asleep through the process except when i was blow drying his front he didnt like that really) By the end of it I had to re do the living room cleaning as I had hair everywhere! But he was such a good boy!

he liked the blow dryer just not towards his face. Yeah I am hoping she feels better too. The daycare told us that it is a normal stomach flu but that they had a few cases of Rotavirus too. (we are having epidemic here at the moment with the rotavirus) So I am PRAYING TO GOD! We dont get that. All of my kids have had it so it shouldnt be to bad for them, but the baby hasnt had it yet.....

Why not just hose off the feet and under belly dry with big towel and WALLA it is enough. U do not need to bath a dog everytime it gets in dirt. That strips the oils the coat made naturally honey, just hose off, keep a towel hanging at the door and dry off and it is over, no shampoos to rinse off and the dogs coat will stay much healthier and shiny if u take ten minutes a day to just brush him good.

Yeah I know not to wash to much or even when he gets dirty but he was REALLY dirty... Plus he smelled bad like mud and poo (I think he rolled in it while playing..so gross) Usually he just gets towled off. Here they only recommend you bath the dogs twice a year as it is really cold outside most of the time and the skin gets over dried.

You're doing a good job keeping your pup clean, i give casey a bath once a month sometimes he won't get it until 2-3 months later. I usually just rinse him off in between baths then after a certain period of time he gets a serious bath. He always feels good in the end. Collies have sensitive skin too so it's important to keep that skin clean. Do you use any oil? like fish oil or flaxseed? i give casey fish oil daily with his food and he hardly ever itches and keeps his coat and skin nice conditioned ....Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing good.

No I dont give any oil. He gets this soured milk stuff which is suppose to help him with his skin. But I have heard that adding a bit extra might help. So I am going to go to the pet store to check it out. Where do you generally get the oil for casey? I have never heard of flax seed before.

Fish oil I can get that by the heeps here! I will try that! Finns still take a tsp every morning to prevent stomach flu and intestinal problems. (well only the strange ones do.) Zorro does have a hard time with itchy skin. Vet gave meds for skin mites as his skin was flacking really bad, so we gave that yesterday. But to be honest once I switched his food he got better with that. PLUS, I stopped that soured milk stuff a few days ago cause I ran out and he hasnt had any bowl problems even though he is on that food so I am wondering if he has some lactose problems that could have explained the itchy skin too... Is that possilbe?

It's ok to bathe your dog when he gets dirty, they also make shampoo's that are sensitive and wont strip the oils.

You take good care of Zorro, he sounds like such a lucky boy
