Loss of appetite
I have a problem. Scooby my 2 yr. old golden ret. mix started eating way too fast at about 6 months old. He ate so fast he would choke himself. He even ate too fast when we had him in his own separate room. We tried feeding him by hand but he was in such a hurry that he bit your fingers hard so we talked to a friend who does mushing and she put water in her huskie's food cuz they ate too fast so we tried it. It worked and so at about ayear and 3/4 old he slowed down his eating so we stopped putting water in his food and were happy that he wasn't choking himself anymore. Now at 2 yrs. old, he is not eating all his food and will walk away from it. I don't know what to do. my older dog started going off food before she died. I'm do NOT think he is going to die but it worries me. He isn't getting all his food. Should I cut down on the amount of food I'm giving him and see what happens or what. Any advice is truely appreciated!!!!!

is your dog sick? has he been acting strange? how long has he not been eating? does he eat some days and not much on others? has he been to a vet recently? is he having good normal bowel movements daily?
i would keep a close watch on him and if no improvement or you notice any change in behavior, i would head to the vet. |

it's amazing how much food they need to grow from little puppies to adults.
if he is still eating every day, just not as much as before. and if he's peeing and pooping with no problems, and has the same energy level i wouldn't worry about it too much. plus, you should monitor his weight and see if he's actually loosing weight. if he is, then a call to your vet is in order. |

He hasn't been sick and I have noticed that all 3 of our dogs have had slightly less formed feces lately. We thought is was because of the change from the cold winter to the warm spring but now he isnt eating right. the other 2 dogs are eating fine. He eats some every day but every day he leaves about 1/2 to 1 cup behind. No he hasn't been to the vet lately nbut they are all going to the vet in may for vaccinations and worm testing. he has ony been eating abnormaly for about a week and 1/2.
Thanx for the concern, Laura and Scooby |

Dog that wont eat
How far down on the bag of dog food are you that you ar currenty feeding?
1/3, 1/2, 2/3. If you are almost to the bottom of your bag sometimes the food can get concentrated with oils and the dog will not eat it. Also what kind is i?t |
