Non shedding dog...shedding???
Hi...My Cleo is half yorkshire terrier half poodle. I don't think they are supposed to be shedding, but lately, I have been finding clumps...sometimes small...rarely large, but definitely clumps, of her hair around the house. I was wondering if this could be because it is getting warmer outside, or if she might have a problem. I did make an appointment with my vet, but I know my vet has a tendency to want to see Cleo for every little thing I call them about so they can make the outrageous sum of fifty bucks per visit plus all the medications and treatments they say she needs. So any information anyone has will be really helpful!!
Thanks! |

Well.. my grandma has a Yorkie and even though he doesn't shed, he still looses some hair. Not in clumps, though, just a few strands falling out.. you can find them on her couches sometimes.

yep yorkies can shed hair i groom a few that do - just keep the dog brushed well and keep an eye on it

It's like human hair.. we don't "shed".. but our hair does come out. The same thing goes for Yorkie's with that fine hair.

For Poodles I have never seen a hair anywhere. But it does shed a little and gets woven in their fur. If I use a slicker brush on them, the loose hair will come out.

poodles don't shed, they only shed when you brush them and there's some hair in the brush. As far as i know anyways, i know my first poodle did not shed, i'll just get "hair" when i brush her. But you won't find "hair" on the floor.

If it's an abnormal amount of hair, I'd be concerned about the thyroid.
EVERY dog sheds, even the so-called non-shedders. The amount varies from breed to breed, but all dogs shed. Could be the yorkie genetics coming through?

You have a mixed breed, so it's a crapchute...
All dogs shed, (EVEN POODLES) but if your finding CLUMPS of hair I would be concerned. |
