Unhappy Sad day with Sam

I'm really going to need you guys now. I just got back from the vets where I had Sam put to sleep. He hadn't eaten since Saturday, and last night he was up most of the night gagging and coughing. My daughter stayed home with him today, and said all he did was try to go behind things to get his own space-we figured he might have been trying to find his place to die. My usual vet wasn't there, but the one who we saw said that one of Sams lungs was totally shut down and the rest was all congested. I know I did the right thing-then why do I feel so horrible? I just loved him so much, when I came home from the vet, I couldn't stand coming home with no wagging tail to greet me. That's why I got my self here on this sight as soon as I could. I know all of you have been through this-how do you do it? I cant imagine not kissing him and getting kisses from him when I go to work and when I get home. I'm going to be so lonely tonight, since he always slept in my room. I just feel do horrible. Thanks for all your support through Sam's illness-but I still need all of you. God Bless. Kathy

I am sorry that you lost Sam - but I am happy that you as an owner him out of his misery instead of just waiting to keep him around for you.

It will be really tough for you for a while - but just know that your dog had a good life with a caring owner and that's all a dog really wants.

Hugs to you.

I know the awful feeling's you're having. You think you see them around every turn in the house and that any moment they'll come to you.

And the only thing that helps ease that is time. But it will ease up.

You gave him a great life right up until he was suffering, then putting his feelings above your own, you let him go to Rainbow's Bridge where right now he's painfree and happy.

Hugs to you from me, Bogey, Cali and Miko

I'm so sorry for your loss of Sam. Remember that you did what you could for him. You did the right thing, an unselfish thing. Be tough, but don't be afraid to cry.

Thinking of you.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. No use telling you all kinds of things to help you. The best thing is cry your eyes out till you're all cried out. You will anyway. But just remember that Sam would want you to be happy and remember the good times. I've lost lots of dogs and swore no more, till I got over it and fell in love again. Hope you can keep busy, and remember, you did what was right for your Sam to the very end, you didn't let him suffer.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sam. I do know the pain you are going through...no words can soothe the pain that your feeling right now. Just believe he is in a better place..running free without pain or worries. It is going to take some time to get over the hurt, but it will slowly fade. He will always be with you in your heart and memories.

I am so sorry!!! It is so hard losing someone you loved and who loved you back. Hang in there! My aunt just lost her lab a few months back due to epilepsy and she was just heat broken. She said she kind of shut down for awhile. Morn for Sam and honor his memory. She is now looking for another lab to take but is doing it very slowly as she doesnt feel the time is pefect yet.
