Please Help !

My pit is getting skinny and we couldn't figure out why. Well yesterday my husband was examining her feces and there were flat small white things in there. Is that worms ? I have never seen a worm that was flat before. But there were several.

Those are tapeworms. Your dog can get those from fleas, from eating an animal infested with tapeworms, or from eating feces that contain the tapeworm eggs or segments. You can solve the problem easily and fairly inexpensively by getting a tablet from your vet.

The small flat things you are seeing are actually only segments of the worm. And yes, tapeworms can affect your dogs weight.

Get him the medication to remove the worms and you should notice a difference within a couple of weeks.

Honey calm down it sounds like Tape worm, is there small pieces around the rectum like pieces of broken paper looking type? It has to be tape worm, look for the thread I did on worms and I bet it is and that makes a dog skinny so quickly as it eats more of what the dogs eats. Take in a sample of fecal matter in a plastic baggie to the vet, cost at most ten bucks and have checked and get meds for whatever, my guess if tape worms. What to do is hot lime your property then with a cheap $35.00 speader to kill any eggs of any worms and bugs for the summer, make tracks back n forth and let the speader do the work, hot lime for yards. It kills these junk. U do not want to reinfest the dog again as the worm will drop eggs, so lime and it is also great for green grass, makes it greener and nicer, if u like to mow. lo. Good luck honey and hope he gets better the soon u find out, then feed him a good kibble probably large breed puppy for a month we with warm water and stir ten seconds to let gases escape because of Bloat. Good Luck and God BLess.

Well we just recently got her from an older lady that passed away. She was up to date on her shots but we had no idea that she had worms. We were going to worm her with the rest of the dogs but we just wormed her sunday so when should I see her gain weight ?

Your routine "all-purpose" wormer (generally nemex)is not effective against tapeworms. You have to have a specific wormer made just for tapeworms (Cestex, Dron-tabs, Drontal liquid, etc)

And yes, you will need to treat your yard. Worms can live in the soil. You'll never catch me barefoot in the grass again.

stormyknight is on a distinguished road
Can a dog with worms pass it on to other dogs or cats in the house?
