Hi I was thinking Rat Terrier or Chihuahua..LOL..goto www.akc.com for breed information. I have a chihuahua and a rat terrier and they both dont yap alot. My chihuahua is beyond spoiled she's good with kids, dont need alot of exercise. They are about 50-300$ depending on what you want. She's good with all other dogs. She's cute and has a short coat. And dont need alot of exercise.

Miniature Pinscher

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A proud, vigorous, hardy, spirited little dog, the Miniature Pinscher is frequently called "King of the Toys". Originating in Germany where it was known as the Reh Pinscher because of its resemblance to small red deer it is important to note that the Miniature Pinscher is not a miniaturised Dobermann.

The "Min Pin's" loving nature, loyalty and intelligence make it a favourite with both adults and gentle children. Bold and flashy with a tendency to show off, the "Min Pin's" distinctive hackney gait gives it a style few breeds can rival.

Bright, attentive and trainable the Miniature Pinscher often out performs far larger breeds in the obedience ring.

The Miniature Pinscher's sleek black, blue, chocolate or red coat sheds minimally and requires little grooming. "Min Pins" are ideal for flat dwellers and may obtain sufficient exercise in a very small space. They have a low tolerance to cold therefor it is necessary to provide warm housing for this breed.
Ideal height 25.5 - 30 cm.
Weight 4.5kg

Size: Small
Age: Adult
Sex: Female
I.D:

Notes: I may be small, but I have lots of love to share with just the right human. I'm a good girl, who walks nicely on a leash and plays well in a fenced-in area. Take me for a walk and I'll show you just how affectionate I can be. All I need is a warm family to call my own. Could that be yours?

i think the only breed that totally fulfils your requirements is the cavalier king charles spaniel. A lot of small dogs are very bad to have around children. The Cairn terrier might suit all your requirements except the exercise, they need around an hours walking a day minimum. A cavalier will be happy on just forty mins a day split into two twenty min walks. However they are prone to being overweight so you will have to keep a close eye on that as they will need more exercise to get the weight off if allowed to become overweight. Being overweight is very dangerous for a cavalier as they are prone to some health problems.
A pug might also suit you but again they are very prone to being overweight and are quite expensive.
Ooh just saw size isnt an issue, try a greyhound.

thanks for all the replys!

southern_girl09, i'm on petfinder eveyday! i love that site and i help set dogs up with rescues on there.

i like the chihuahua idea. i have always really liked them but i thought they were yappy? i have a pom that i adopted from the humane society 3 yrs ago. he's not yappy, but i heard that most poms usually are. i would not get a min pin because they are yappy and annoying ,and i know a person that has one and i can't stand that dog! i love dogs and they take up most of my life, but the world would do just fine without this dog.lol
