This is Embarrassing

Casey needs his **** glands compress. I saw him scooting across the carpet after he did his buisness this morning. Then when i went to lift his tail and he stunk bad LOL. Anyone know how i can deal with this?, i don't want to squeeze it out with my own hand, and hubby won't come home until 4:00. Think the vet will just let me come in for that? LOL.....

A groomer will do it for you too. Your vet should be able to show you how to do it properly.

BTW - it really stinks when you do this so I only do it in the bath tub.

It DOES really stink after they're expressed, and some inevitably dribbles onto the butt fur... I always like to make sure dogs get a bath after being expressed. Just a tip.

I was a groomer back in the day and instead of doing it when they are dry try giving them a bath and do it then. It's less messy that way. If it is that full then you will be able to feel it really well. We always did it as a rotinue in the water then put clean water in and bathed them. But it does stink.....Whew.

AWWW sheltie honey talk to me about anals. I had that with Gino remember I almost lost him. Why pay a vet or groomer with some gloves do it alone with a clothes pin on your nose, lol. Not so bad and helps the dog and you honey.

The vet showed me how to express Poppy's glands - but thankfully she hasn't needed it doing since then! If you do decide to do it yourself in future make sure you get somebody to show you how to do it right and on your own dog as all dogs need expressing in slightly different places (so my vet told me!)
