MSM for dogs?

Hi There!

I've got a 14 year-old border collie/chow, and it's getting harder for him to get up and lie down. He's still very, very active - chases the horses from his side of the fence - but the stiffness is starting to worry me. I'm using MSM for my horse and me, but I was wondering if anybody knew about its use with dogs.

Where is he sore? Have you gotten him checked for Arthisis?

It seems like it's mostly in his shoulders and his hips. In the last 3-4 weeks, it's been more noticeable. He's slow sitting and laying down, and slow getting up. Once he's up, his balance isn't as good as it used to be. At the same time, he's still jogging and running around - once he's up.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is arthritis. We're going to the vet next week to have it checked out and see what they recommend.

Hi, if you dog is having some problems with stiffness, or soreness you can check out this website www.activexamerica.com. They sell this product called synflex, and it seems to work well for all sorts of bone issues. There is several testomonials on there from other users who are very satisified with the product.

My dog is 12 yrs old and she just recently started limping on her front leg. I gave her synflex for awhile, and she was able to walk. Then I stopped for 2 days, and she was limping again. Did this twice, to know for sure that synflex works for her. It does.

Thanks, Calista! I ended up going to the vet, and he gave me some Synovi G3 to try. We're going to see how that works for about a month. I appreciate the links, though. I can use all the info I can get on this stuff.
