Something was wrong with Ellie

Ellie was unwell the other night, I don't know the cause, nearly off to the vets, but this is what was happening to her.
Not eating.
Constantly crying, whining, looking at me.
Panting.
Chewing at her back end, & legs.
Not settling down and sleeping like usual, just sitting up all the time.

No other symptoms, excessive thirst, urination etc.

I stayed up with her, in the end she layed down and we both fell asleep, she did this a little the next day, on and off. Now she is fine.

Anyone any ideas, the only thing I could think of was a bite, we do have a lot of redback spiders, would that do it to her? I don't know if they are poisionouss to dogs like us.

Did she pass normal faeces?
That she was maintaining a sitting position suggests that the discomfort was less when she was in that position. This suggests some sort of tummy upset.
I guess they bite could also explain things, if a certain area on her back end was very sore/painfully itchy perhaps it was better when she sat on it hard.
Sorry not to be more help.
Lou

How is she today. Back to normal. Any redness or swelling anywhere. Since it's on her butt - kiss it better for me LOL, I guess she'll just have to get hugs & more hugs.

Hope she's better.

Same question as lou... is her poop normal? My cousin's lab had these symptoms when his **** glands weren't being properly evacuated... he also had other, psychological symptoms, such as excessive paw licking.... he actually just went through this the other day... good luck and kiss it for me, too LOL

I WILL NOT.....oooooh, kissing her is one thing, but on her butt, imagine if anyone saw me, they would really think I was, you know...funny, after what I did with my male that time.
The poo, yes I did notice that after I let her out for one she settled for a bit, then started up again, I couldn't see what it was like, it was dark out and I didn't think to go looking. It is normal today, and she is asleep like normal under the computer table now.
The only other thing she had was a bone with her tea. I thought at first she had it stuck in her mouth, that being the reason for panting, but there was nothing there.
Do you think that could have done something inside, should I take her to the vets, or wait a little. She seems ok today, as I have said.
Thanks for your help, gals.

She might be pulling your leg for extra attention. It doesn't sound like anything urgent but if she starts up again or symptoms get worse - I would take her to vet. Otherwise just watch her for fever, changes in Poo output, and give lots of cuddles.

I've been known to have an off day, moaning and complaining without anything seriously wrong. Can't blame a girl for trying.

I would say, if she seems better today, keep an eye on her, and if she has any more symptoms in the next few days, give the vet a call, just in case....

You don't think she swallowed the bone do you??

On the redback question, dogs do not have the same reaction to the venom like we do. It doesn't even seem to bother them at. Not even Funnel Web's seem to affect them, thank God.

On the sookyness.
Snoopy goes through the same thing.
It wasn't until we got the new dog that it got worse and we took her to the vet.
He put her on an Anit-depressent type of medication.
Fixed her almost immediatly.
